The Training Band

Chinnor Silver Band has always prided itself on being able to produce its own generations of players through its very successful training programme. An indication of this success is that no fewer than 9 of the current senior Band have progressed through the Training Band.

Our philosophy has always been to encourage youngsters into the brass band world by giving them free in house 1:1 tuition & loan of an instrument until they reach a level where they can join the Training Band fully - how many other organisations can boast the same?

The Training Band currently consists of 9 players, with 4 new starters undergoing the 1:1 tuition phase with a member of the Senior Band. We meet on a Saturday morning for practice & have performed at several events, including opening the second half of the Senior Band's concert at St Andrews Church, Chinnor in December 2007 which was a personal highlight.

There is a close link with the Senior Band & both bands combine once a month to have a joint rehearsal so that the youngsters get the full experience of playing with a full band.
